The Civil UAVs Initiative is a pioneering strategic initiative in Europe led by the Xunta de Galicia to attract investments in the aerospace sector and develop innovative solutions in the systems and unmanned vehicles industry.
Its objective is to achieve innovative solutions and products to improve the capabilities of public services, making them more modern and efficient.
Boosted in 2015 through the Public Procurement of Innovation (CPI), it has allowed Galicia to attract large multinational companies in the aerospace sector such as Boeing, Indra and Babcock and has managed to generate and consolidate an industrial fabric around the Galician Aerospace Pole.
The Civil UAVs Initiative has favored the creation of an innovation ecosystem capable of generating new ideas and attracting and retaining highly qualified and specialized talent.
Within the framework of this initiative, more than 50 agents (universities, knowledge centers, leading companies and SMEs) participate and more than 35 R+D+i projects are being developed with more than 400 people involved. Between 2015 and 2020 164 million euros of public-private investment is being mobilized.
The Xunta de Galicia believes in the aerospace industry. A commitment that applies to UNVEX 2020: the head of the Galician government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, chairs the honor committee of the event, of which the Civil UAVs Initiative is its main collaborator.
